Ramcharan Chadrashekar
Computational Scientist Intern
Ram Charan Chandra Shekar received his Bachelor's Degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering & Master's in Digital Electronics & Communication Systems Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Karnataka, India. Ram defended his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in May 2022. Ram also received his post-graduate certification in Applied Machine Learning while he was serving as a PostDoc with Prof. John H.L. Hansen at CRSS-CI Lab, UT Dallas. Ram has worked & published in several areas speech & audio research including spatial audio, sound/audio classification, source/speech separation, sound/speech Enhancement, hearing aids-cochlear implant speech processing and speech & phoneme recognition. Ram's dissertation focused on addressing audio classification, development of novel technique for improving perception of non-linguistic (environmental sounds & music) sounds among cochlear implant subjects & safety analysis of research-interfaces for cochlear implants & assistive hearing devices. Ram's research interests include: speech & audio processing, natural language processing, advanced deep learning architectures including transformer, conformer & other deep generative models. Ram joined the BioHPC team housed within the Lyda Hill Department of Bioinformatics at UTSW as a computational scientist intern in August 2023.
